What We Have Done

You can go on-line and buy all the medieval clothing, feasting gear, tents and armour you want and attend a medieval function, BUT...

that's not living history, that's a costume party.

As living historians we believe that doing what people did, trying to do what they would have needed to do, with what they had available, offers us more of an understanding of how they lived, and how civilzation developed. Many of the crafts we attempt are those that people needed a lifetime to learn and prefect, so we can only ever be apprentices.

These pages are a primarily visual record of the diverse projects the staff and families of Days of Knights always seem to be engaged in. Days of Knights isn't just us going to work wearing "medieval" costume. Our love of the Middle Ages, and of recreating the artifacts and events of the times is also our hobby. It's a hobby that closely involves the rest of our families, and many friends. Oft-times there just aren't enough hours in the day, or days in the week, to accomplish all we would like to, but hopefully a look through these images will give you an idea of the sorts of crafts and activities we practise and learn, and then integrate into our various programs to bring to you.

To make things a little easier for navigational purposes, we've put the various crafts into categories.
