Activity Days

Whilst our medieval education programs are enormously popular we've found that some people prefer to delve more deeply into one aspect of the Middle Ages. To this end we have developed a range of craft based activity days. Examples include Medieval Dance and Games, "The Daily Grind" (processing grain through to medieval bread), Calligraphy and Illumination, Armoring and Training a Knight, Preparing a Simple Feast and Designing and Making a Heraldic Display.

That's just the beginning. Over the years our folk at Days of Knights have researched and practiced dozens of medieval crafts including making clothes, armoring, felting, spinning, weaving, dyeing, dance, cooking, shoe-making, stone-masonry, dry stone walling, construction and much more. We've taught the skills to absolute newcomers and to other living historians with years of experience. We've taught these skills to grade Preps and University academics. Days of Knights endeavours to bring medieval education to the complete range of people, and activity days are yet another way we can do this.

Activity days offer the opportunity for children (whatever their age) to develop new skills, and also to learn about life in the Middle Ages from practising the crafts of the time and through the liberal use of anecdotes and question opportunites. It's so much fun that they'll never realise that they're being educated!
